Q: How did you get into the whole music scene? Which one do you prefer; DJ-ing or Production? Is it as glamorous as most people tend to think it is?
A: I was 16 years old. My father plays the piano and other instruments. At nights, I always in his studio to play his piano. I prefer to remain a lover of music; DJ, producer, musician, singer, etc. I like the music that gives me feeling.
Q: Which genre of music do you specialise in and which is your personal favourite? How do you get your music?
A: I like to experiment with Latin, Jazz, Folk, Afro, etc. For me the music is a gift that God gave us.
Q: What does music mean to you?
A: It´s a way of life, it helps me a lot.
Q: Tell us more about your musical journey? What lead to you taking that route than anything else?
A: I´m open to new styles of music.
Q: Are you happy with what you have achieved so far?
A: I think that in the year that i´ve been into electronic music, i feel very happy.
Q: How do you manage to juggle being a DJ and Producer? Do you still find the time to relax?
A: I work a lot, day and night. I don’t have much time to relax.
Q: What’s the biggest gig you ever played? What would be your ultimate gig?
A: 20 000 People in the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Q: Give us a breakdown a day or night in the life of Pablo Fierro? What’s the preparation like, leading up to the event, and what happens afterwards, what food you eat?
A: I get up and then have breakfast. I then go to the studio. Sometimes I forget to eat… hehehe. I usually do Yoga, Kung-Fu and Boxing. I eat a lot of fruit, they give you a lot of energy… hahaha
Q: Is the entertainment industry your only source of income. Are there any other ventures that you are involved in?
A: I make music for film, plays, television, etc.
Q: What about time with family and friends – How do you manage that?
A: I’ve had many problems with that because the most of the time i´ve been working in the studio.
Q: Given your insight into what’s hot on the urban dance scene, what do you think the trend for summer will be? Has the economic climate affected your pocket?
A: I like new and different music. Today, it’s difficult to surprise people with something new, different and fresh.
Q: How many groupies do you get?
A: I don’t know… hahaha
Q: Have you had any awkward moments with fans? Have you performed at an event that made you go ”WTF???”
A: All the moments i´ve had with fans are really fun.
Q: What projects have you been working on?
A: At the moment, there´s a promo “Check The Boogie Part1” on “I Records”. It has remixes from Soul Minority and Owain K. On the way is “Time to Change” on “Dark Energy Recordings”. It has two original songs and a remix by Shur-I-Kan. I feel very privileged to work with these artists, especially with Shur-I-Kan.
Q: You’ve achieved so much, what’s in store from Pablo Fierro? What aspirations do you have?
A: I wish continue enjoying what i do.
Q: Are you interested in any collaborations with artists in South Africa?
A: Of course. South Africa has very good DJs and producers.
Q: Who do you regard (aside from yourself) as a producer that’s making strides in the industry?
A: Shur-I-Kan
